Wherever possible, avoid overnight stays.
For every meeting, conference, delegation trip, other appointment and event, critically examine whether participation is really necessary and sensible (and if so, to what extent) or whether it can be dispensed with. If in doubt, do not participate.
However, a domestic German flight already causes higher GHG emissions than an overnight stay in a hotel. Therefore, if a return journey by train is no longer possible due to time constraints, an overnight stay is preferable to a flight (alternatively: if possible, an overnight train with sleeping car).

Set up "fan paths" on foot and/or by bike to the sports venues. These could, for example, be labelled as a "red carpet" or be based on the participating nations/sports. This could, for example, be a main route from the city centre/train station to the sports venues and public viewing. When choosing a location for public viewing, the following should be taken into account: good accessibility on foot, by bike and by public transport. The signposting should be easy to understand and also communicated via the app.
Design the fan routes attractively (with food/drinks, entertainment, culture, information, etc.).
If possible, take this into account in the routing: Places of interest, attractive routes in "green" areas (parks), safe routes (no streets or clear demarcation from streets), attractive neighbourhoods (culture, entertainment), climate adaptation (shading).

Make sure that athletes see themselves as role models: All (national) teams and athletes will only use the train/bus within the host country. This can be achieved, for example, through a voluntary commitment by all teams or athletes to a "no-fly policy" (exceptions for journeys of more than six or eight hours, for example, should be checked).
