Work together with local tourist offices on a permanent basis.

Action area Value Creation and Tourism - Target: The sporting event promotes the sustainable development of tourism.
| Potential impact | |||||
Use classic slates with chalk. Use price boards from beverage partners that can be reused after the event. It may also be possible to purchase and use digital price boards (although these are likely to be expensive and also consume electricity, even if this avoids waste). Avoid specific price signs (food, drinks) for the sporting event that are potentially not reusable.
| Cost | |||||
Action area Waste - Target: Minimise the volume of waste.
| Potential impact | |||||
Action area Resource cycle - Target: Maximise the life cycle of purchased products and ensure the long-term use of other resources.
| Potential impact | |||||
Use signposts with reusable "scaffolding" so that only the sign/poster needs to be replaced.
The use of a digital signpost/poster can be an option to reduce waste. However, these are expensive, and appropriate technical connection options must also be available (alternatively with solar operation). From an environmental point of view, it is necessary to weigh waste avoidance against electricity consumption and potentially higher resource consumption.
When selecting materials, ensure that they are made from recycled materials where possible. When planning and selecting materials, make sure that the materials used are suitable for subsequent reuse.
Reuse: Pass the materials on to reuse/second-life projects/upcycling (e.g. through material initiatives). If this is not possible, the materials should be sent for high-quality mechanical recycling wherever possible.
| Cost | |||||
Action area Waste - Target: Make all relevant stakeholders aware of waste avoidance, waste separation and the correct handling of waste and motivate them to adopt sustainable behaviour.
| Potential impact | |||||
Action area Resource cycle - Target: Maximise the life cycle of purchased products and ensure the long-term use of other resources.
| Potential impact | |||||
Transport and reconstruction packaging of the stands: Ensure that all components, materials etc. are delivered in reusable transport packaging. Any unavoidable protective films etc. will be saved for dismantling and reused. All packaging from assembly and dismantling must be taken back by the installers/suppliers.
| Cost | |||||
Action area Waste - Target: Minimise the volume of waste.
| Potential impact | |||||
Collect a deposit from all operators/furnishers of stands, tents, kiosks, etc., which can be retained if waste is left behind during assembly and dismantling. The deposit is repaid if the premises are returned clean after the event.

If food trucks and similar stands from commissioned companies (i.e. companies that are not official partners or sponsors) have to be displayed "neutrally" (i.e. without a company logo, company name, etc.), you should remove or mask off the logo/name with as little material as possible.
| Cost | |||||
Action area Waste - Target: Make all relevant stakeholders aware of waste avoidance, waste separation and the correct handling of waste and motivate them to adopt sustainable behaviour.
| Potential impact | |||||
If possible, refrain from branding that would prevent the further use (due to rights of use of logos, names, etc.) of components, objects, materials, etc. If in doubt, easily removable posters or removable films should be used.

Set up one or more central waste collection points in the form of large containers, depending on the local conditions. Carry out visual inspections of waste when it is delivered to the central waste collection points so that adjustments can be made if necessary to improve separate collection (e.g. by increasing the presence of volunteers, adjusting the type and number of containers).
| Cost | |||||
Action area Waste - Target: Collect the remaining waste separately by type and recycle elsewhere in as ecologically sound a manner as possible.
| Potential impact | |||||
Organise support for separate collection by volunteers ("recycling volunteers"). These help to improve the quality of separate collection, raise public awareness and sensitise people to the issue of waste. Recycling volunteers can motivate spectators at the collection points in a friendly manner to separate waste correctly. Recycling volunteers can provide information about the waste/environmental concept (or also support a possible questionnaire survey/interviews) on the way across the site / sports facility. They keep the collection points clean and request that the bins are emptied on time.
